THE MOST IMPRESSIVE
WORK
There are three works with particularly meaningful for Preecha. The
first is his painting Light and Shadow, no.4, winning the
gold medal at the 23rd National Competition of Art in 1975, which made
the artist very well known. In this painting, Preecha brought light
and shadow to create a new idealism of form, using images of real architecture.
Integrating these elements, Preecha created his own style through the
light and shadow series.

The second one is The Structure of the Cosmos, at the top
ceiling of the United Nations, ESCAP building, on Rajdamnern Road, Bangkok.
The work won a competition, which sponsored by the Thai government,
and was a gift to the United Nations. Preecha is very proud of this
commission. The image changed from meditation on light and shadow in
architecture to a more symbolic Buddhist theme. The work is a contemporary
art work in form but traditional art in technique.

The third work is the illustrations of The Story of Maha Janaka,
a retelling of a Buddhist fable by His Majesty King Bhumipol. Preecha
was inspired by the content and concept of His Majestys presentation,
with his wish to tell a story that would touch the hearts of all Thai
people. Preecha had to re-sketch each illustration, times after times,
until the pictures met His Majestys approval. The opportunity
to work so closely with the king was the greatest chance of his lifetime.
